Sleepy Hollow

SUMMARY:

In 1799, New York City police constable Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is facing imprisonment for going against traditional methods and favoring forensic investigation techniques, such as autopsies, considered unorthodox and unimportant at the time. Ichabod submits to deployment with his bag of tools to the Westchester County of Sleepy Hollow, New York, which has been plagued by a series of brutal slayings in which the victims have been found decapitated: Peter Van Garrett , wealthy farmer and landowner; his son Dirk; and the widow Emily Winship. Arriving in Sleepy Hollow, Crane is informed by the town's elders that the killer is not of flesh and blood, but rather an undead headless mercenary from the American Revolutionary War who rides at night on a massive black steed in search of his missing head.

Friends

The first time when I met a new friend

I met my friend Ruth three years ago while I was walking down the street. It was raining at that moment and I dind't have any umbrella. Suddenly, she came behind me and asked to share her umbrella. I didn't use to speak with strangers but it was very cold, so I accepted the proposal. I was very shy and I didn't know her so I didn't talk much, but I thought that she'd be a good friend.

Then, we arrived at my home and I asked her to stay with me that afternoon She was very optimistic, I told her that I would go to a competition and she encouraged me a lot! She also was truth ful, I had a stain in my shirt and she said it to me in a very good way! We had a great time together. We've met other times since then and we've been very good friends!

What makes a good friend for me?

A good friend for me is someone who loves you and appreciates you a lot. I think a good friend has to be truthful enough to tell you when you've got something in your face or wherever you have it. They should be optimistic about your chances of passing an exam or a competition for example. Also, they need to be sympathetic when you fail; supportive when you feel down and, of course, dedicated to your friendship.

An email to a friend (Unit 1)

Hi Martina,
How are you? What have you been doing since we last met? It's such a wonderful idea: I've joined a youth club which makes me enjoy the weekend and discover different things.

I was always busy in doing homework and studying but I decided to make an effort and enjoy some of my free time. Basically, we meet on Saturdays afternoons to make projects like cooking, drawing our imagination, playing games outdoors, etc. We are girls of different ages so we can share conversation and tell about our lives. I mean, people of our ages don't usually go to youth clubs, they prefer going outside, taking photos, listening to music... but this is a different way to have a good time and I enjoy it a lot.

Have you ever joined something like that? I mean, do you like spending your free-time with other girls and try to do different things? It's a great idea if you want to enjoy your weekends in a different way. I've never thought I would join a club like that! This has made a big difference to me, I mean, now I'm more enthusiastic and confident than before!

Anyway, I've got to go, I've just made a cake and it's really tempting me:) I'll wait for your answer, I would be a good idea you joined this club!

A big hug,
Clàudia

My summer holidays

Hi, today I'm going to talk about my summer holidays. First of all, I'm gonna explain my three days in Saillegouse (France), second I'm gonna talk about my trip to Dènia, third I'm gonna talk about my three days in Lloret de mar and finally, my trip to Zwevegem (Belgium).

I just travelled in August and September, on July I stayed in Banyoles training for the canoe championship in Belgium But on the 3rd of August I left Banyoles by car and I went to Saillegouse with my uncle and my cousin. There was a swimming pool so I went there everyday to take photos and enjoy the sun.

I stayed there for three days so on the 6th I already was in Dènia (near Valencia). That trip was very relaxing because we got up late in the morning to go to the swimming pool and then in the afternoon, we went again. The 7 days went away very quickly so it was time to come back to Banyoles for a week and then, to go to Lloret de Mar.

When I arrived in Banyoles after two weeks, I prepared all the things to go to Lloret de mar. I stayed there with my mum, my grandma, my brother and Xèniaso we had a great time together. Every morning we got up at 10 a.m more or less and we went to the beach all the morning, then, we had lunch and in the afternoon we did all the homework.

Finally, when the holidays in Lloret de Mar finished, I stayed inBanyoles for two weeks and then, I went to Zwevegem , Belgium to compete the canoe championship (Sobeka Flanders Cup'15). We left Banyoles at 5 a.m and it took 17-18 hours to arrive in Belgium, so more or less, at 10 a.m we arrived. We stayed there from Friday to Sunday because the competition was at the weekend. On Friday afternoon, we visited Brugges with the club and we went to sleep very early to be prepared for the competition.

So these were my summer holidays, thank you for listening!
